The Berlin Wall has been erected.  This is perhaps the single greatest symbol of the Cold War.

This wall, unlike many think, is not just simple bricks and mortar.  The Berlin Wall is composed of many sections, anything to keep people from the Communist side of Berlin in the Communist side.  Communist U.S.S.R. did not want these refugees to escape.  To prevent this, the wall is made of barbed wire, bricks, land mines, attack dogs, soldiers, ANYTHING to keep people from reaching the freedom of democracy.  Some people, desperately jump from buildings in attempts to reach freedom and jump the wall.  If nothing else, this should also make you realize that your life isn't bad at all.  Many people, gave their lives in an attempt to get just some of what you, and every other American has.
